El Nido to subsidize fertilizers for local rice farmers

Mayor Edna Gacot-Lim in an interview Friday told Palawan News that the municipal government is doing this to increase the production of food and its sufficiency for residents of the town.

EL NIDO, Palawan — Over P4 million-worth of fertilizer subsidy will be provided to an estimated 1,172 farmers in this town in July through the Municipal Agriculture’s Office (MAO).

Mayor Edna Gacot-Lim in an interview Friday told Palawan News that the municipal government is doing this to increase the production of food and its sufficiency for residents of the town.

Municipal agriculturist Virginia Balderas said the fertilizer fund shall help improve the productivity and quality of rice of local farmers.

The LGU shall purchase 2,344 bags of urea, 890 bags of complete fertilizers, and 150 bags of muriate of potash (MOP) to be distributed in July to both rained and irrigated rice
