EL NIDO, Palawan — Over 300 residents benefited here Saturday from the feeding program organized by the local nutrition action center at Sitio Calitang, Barangay Bucana.

El Nido nutrition action officer Carmela Balderas-Romantico was in Bucana to lead the feeding program with the participation of the candidates for the Ms. El Nido Ambassadress 2020.

The feeding program distributed an estimated 450 bottles of vitamins to children above 1-years-old and provided nutritious meals.

The event is part of the continuing nutrition program of the municipal government, which is aimed at achieveing a “zero malnutrition rate” for the town.

Meanwhile, registered midwife Madeline Albag said the fast-growing number of population in the place made them choose it as this year’s nutrition program venue.

She said the children in Bucana have outnumbered its adult residents. Bucana has 6,000 residents, which makes it the second barangay with the highest population next to Brgy. Teneguiban.

“Mas marami po ang bilang ng mga bata dito kumpara sa mga magulang. Ewan lang kung bakit at hindi naman kami nagkulang sa kampanya namin tungkol sa tamang pagpa-plano ng pamilya,” Albag said.
