The El Nido police arrested two persons claiming to be off duty security guards Saturday at a popular beach resort in El Nido for firing their guns indiscriminately.

A report from Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA identified the two suspects as Rico Barrun, 32, a resident of Brgy. Pasadeña, and Angel Regala, 35, a resident of Brgy. Villa Paz.

The two were arrested on Duli Beach, Brgy. Bucana after local residents reported them to the local police for firing their guns and scaring the neighborhood.

PRO MIMAROPA Spokesperson PCol. Socrates Faltado said Barrun and Regala were placed under the custody of the El Nido Municipal Police Station (MPS) for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act”.

The two were arrested on the beach carrying a shotgun and a revolver. They were reportedly unable to show licenses to their guns or a duty detail order of their supposed security agency.

Recovered from their possession and control were one a 12-gauge shotgun with Serial No. RIA1800252, 24 live ammunition of a shotgun, and one caliber .38 revolver loaded with six live ammunition.
