The Department of Social Welfare and Development has resumed the issuance of guarantee letters for medical and burial assistance under its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program starting January 5.
In a press release, the DSWD said the resumption covers the issuance of Guarantee Letters, or GLs, for qualified beneficiaries seeking medical and burial assistance.
The department clarified that the provision of direct cash assistance under the AICS program has been temporarily suspended effective January 5.
The DSWD said the suspension of cash aid is “in accordance with existing policies of the Department of Budget and Management and pending the release of funds under the 2026 General Appropriations Act.”
The agency said assistance through guarantee letters will continue to be available to Filipinos facing crisis situations while awaiting the release of funds.
