The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA officially launched the Panahon ng Pagkilos: Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP) on Friday, November 21. The community-driven development (CDD) program aims to strengthen local communities against the impacts of climate change.
PCRP is considered the successor to the long-running KALAHI-CIDSS program, which promoted community empowerment and citizen participation in project planning and implementation.
The first batch of implementation covers municipalities in Romblon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, and Palawan. In Palawan, the participating towns include Agutaya, Araceli, Bataraza, Culion, Cuyo, Magsaysay, and Sofronio Española. Each local government unit (LGU) will receive P50 million to P70 million worth of projects over three years, based on proposals submitted by their respective communities.
The launch was led by DSWD MIMAROPA Office in Charge Benchie Gonzales and DSWD OIC Deputy Program Manager for Support Didith Bosoen of KALAHI-CIDSS, along with Gov. Trina Firmalo-Fabic, Romblon Rep. Eleandro Madrona, and Occidental Mindoro Rep. Leody Tarriela.
