Thirty-nine released persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) each received ₱3,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) office in Puerto Princesa City.
This came after they underwent and passed the assessment and interview conducted by the DSWD before qualifying for the financial assistance.
The amount serves as aid for the released PDLs, which they can use as transportation allowance as they return to their respective hometowns and work towards rebuilding their lives with their families.
This is also part of an IPPF program managed by its external affairs section in coordination with the DSWD, and is aligned with the broader goal of the Bureau of Corrections to provide opportunities and support for the reformation of PDLs.
