A loan-funded ₱40.5 million package of livelihood and agricultural facilities, along with a wharf, broke ground in Old Site, Barangay Ransang to centralize post-harvest operations and improve the transport of farm and fishery products in Dr. Jose Rizal.
The Municipal Engineering Office (MEO) said the project, which broke ground on February 20, covers the construction of a rice mill warehouse, corn mill warehouse, solar dryer, mechanical dryer, processing center, cold storage, power house, and an office.
The facilities are designed to serve as a central hub for processing and storage across the municipality.
“The local government unit expresses its sincere gratitude to Mayor Norman S. Ong, Vice Mayor Maria Gracia Macasaet-Zapanta, and the 17th Sangguniang Bayan Members for their leadership and unwavering support in turning this vision into reality,” the office said in a statement.
Of the total allocation, ₱29 million will fund machinery and equipment for the livelihood and agricultural facilities, while ₱20 million is allotted for the construction of the wharf.
According to the municipal government, the facilities aim to reduce post-harvest losses and ensure product quality by consolidating processing and storage operations.
The wharf and its amenities will also improve the transport system and provide docking access for vessels carrying agricultural and fishery products, including those of farmers and fishermen.
Completion of the projects is expected to generate jobs and boost production in Barangay Ransang and nearby communities, the local government said.
