The 2nd District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a 704-linear-meter concrete road in Barangay Panitian, Sofronio Española, with the goal of improving accessibility for local residents.
According to a report by Engineer Noel Fuentebella of the engineering district to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald Pacanan, the new road is located in Sitio Alis-Alis in Panitian.
The project encompasses a 704-linear-meter concrete road, equipped with signage and pavement markings to promote safety and facilitate smooth movement of traffic in Sofronio Española.
Fuentebella stated that the project includes 10-meter-high solar-powered streetlights to improve visibility at night, while the existing 6-meter-high solar streetlights were moved to maximize lighting coverage in the area.
The recently completed route is anticipated to reduce travel time by approximately 1.3 to 3.4 minutes, advantageous for residents and local enterprises.
The enhanced access is anticipated to elevate the community’s quality of life by improving connectivity to key services and promoting economic growth.
Engr. Rommel Aguirre of the 1st Palawan District Engineering Office (DEO) also reported to Pacanan that local residents and tourists traveling along the north road in Taytay now benefit from an improved and more efficient road network following the completion of an asphalt overlay project.
Aguirre stated that the project covered 1.4 kilometers to extend the lifespan of the existing concrete roads.
It is expected to reduce premature pavement deterioration caused by heavy vehicles and improve vehicular traffic flow along the national road.
