The Department of Tourism (DOT) MIMAROPA targets over 3 million tourist arrivals in the region for 2025.
This was announced by DOT MIMAROPA Regional Director Roberto Alabado III during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on March 26.
The 2025 tourism targets represent a 10 percent increase from the 2.8 million arrivals recorded in 2024.
Additionally, the tourism department also aims to generate ₱45.7 billion in tourism receipts, a significant increase from the previous year’s ₱41.5 billion.
Alabado added that the region also plans to host 43 cruise calls this year, reinforcing its position as a key destination for international cruise travelers.
“We expect to bring in high-value tourists, further stimulating local economies, particularly in coastal and island communities,” he said.
He cited that these goals are achievable given the region’s diverse tourism offerings and growing appeal to travelers.
Alabado highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism, ensuring that the industry’s growth benefits local communities while preserving MIMAROPA’s natural and cultural heritage.
“Ang goal po natin dito ay hindi lamang maiangat ang bilang ng mga turista na dumarating sa ating rehiyon kundi pati na rin mas mapataas ang kalidad o ang tourism experience sa rehiyon. [At] upang maisakatuparan po ito, tayo po ay makikipag tuwang sa mga local government units at mga private stakeholders,” he added.
The increase in projected tourist arrivals and spending is attributed to enhanced promotional efforts and expanded tourism programs that focus on both domestic and international markets. (PIA)
