Al Ghafar Iribani, DILG Project Development Officer for Center for Federalism and Constitutional Reform, said that, “the town hall meeting is a component of DILG’s Balangayan 2019 which aims to have a conversation with the Local Chief Executives, Barangay Officials, SK leaders, and other dignitaries within municipalities in provinces to provide public awareness on the importance of reforms in the Constitution and Federalism.”
“The pursuit of constitutional reform DILG advocates is to provide every Filipino equal access to and opportunity to pursue a comfortable life and better future”, Iribani added.
During the assembly, DILG also emphasized the preservation of the Mandanas decision of the Supreme Court allocating the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) of local government units to be computed based on all national taxes and not just from national internal revenue taxes.
