The Department of Education (DepEd) in Palawan has announced the suspension of classes in the towns of Busuanga, Culion, El Nido, Magsaysay, and Taytay in northern Palawan on Monday, August 5.

In an advisory posted on Facebook, Grace Estefano, DepEd information officer, said the class suspension is in anticipation of heavy rains expected to be brought by Tropical Storm Hanna.

Estefano said the suspension covers students from kindergarten to grade 12.

The suspension of classes was ordered by the local chief executives of the towns.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts Northern Palawan to experience moderate to heavy rains Monday.

Hanna however is not expected to make landfall, according to the state weather agency.
