The Department of Education (DepEd) has extended until July 15 its remote and dropbox enrollment for learners from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in public schools.
The extension was also announced by presidential spokesperson Harry Roque in a televised Palace press briefing.
The method of enrollment was devised by the DepEd to discourage parents and students from having to physically go to school and risk exposure to coronavirus.
Through remote enrollment, the learners are enrolled utilizing text messaging, phone calls, and social media. The DepEd also introduced a dropbox method, where drop boxes are deployed in a community where parents or students can secure and fill out enrollment forms.
Gina Francisco, division information officer of the Schools Division of Puerto Princesa, told Palawan News they have already received the announcement of the extension from the central office.
“Ang city DepEd ay handang handa ng tumanggap ng mga learners sa darating na school year 2020-2021. Hindi man ito face-to-face pero gagawin natin itong, same as katulad ng dati,” Francisco said.
