Due to a miscommunication on the part of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the Department of Education’s (DepEd) presentation was rescheduled for next week’s regular session.

The department was supposed to present its assessment on Palawan’s readiness to conduct distance learning while the prohibition on face-to-face classes is still in place.

“Nagkaroon kasi ng miscommunication kina Secretary [to the Sanggunian]. Akala nila hindi na muna sila [DepEd] ii-invite today, kaya next week na lang daw,” Board Member Cesareo Benedito said.

Face-to-face classes remain prohibited due to the ongoing pandemic. The DepEd has maintained that a combination of online and modular learning is to be done in the coming school year 2020-2021.

Benedito has expressed concern that modular learning will be difficult for the most remote areas of the province.
