The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Palawan convened stakeholders from across the province on Tuesday for a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) aimed at recalibrating its Division Education Development Plan (DEDP) to make education programs more inclusive and responsive to the needs of communities.
The consultation brought together representatives from the education sector, local government units (LGUs), Indigenous Peoples (IP) groups, Parents-Teachers Associations (PTAs), non-government organizations (NGOs), private institutions, and national government agencies (NGAs).
DepEd said the activity seeks to strengthen the province’s education roadmap by incorporating recommendations from key stakeholders and reinforcing collaboration in addressing the challenges facing the education sector.
The recalibration of the Division Education Development Plan is essential to ensure that the programs remain responsive, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of learners and communities throughout Palawan.
Among the participating stakeholders is the Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation who implemented education-related initiatives through their Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), collectively known as “SDMP+.”
The programs support the education sector through scholarship grants, construction and improvement of school facilities, subsidies for para-teachers, provision of learning materials, capacity-building activities, and partnership-building initiatives benefiting schools and learners particularly from their partner communities in Bataraza and Rizal, Palawan.
DepEd emphasized that the stakeholder consultation forms part of its continuing efforts to build a stronger and more sustainable education system through the active participation of government agencies, private organizations, and community partners.
