Defective SD cards has delayed the canvassing of results for provincial positions in Palawan, provincial elections supervisor Atty. Urbano Arlando said.
Arlando who heads the Provincial Board of Canvassers, said 48 SD cards from different precincts in the province are not working.
The defective SD cards came from clustered precincts in Aborlan, Agutaya, Araceli, Balabac, Bataraza, Brooke’s Point, Busuanga, Cagayancillo, Coron, El Nido and Sofronio Española.
He said they have already requested replacements from Manila.
“Hindi gumana ang mga SD cards kaya nagrequest pa tayo sa Manila. Meron nang na-approved at parating na. For me talaga maximum na Sunday or Saturday na tayo makakapagproclaim kasi ibi-biyahe pa natin ang mga SD cards na ‘yan,” Arlando said.
As of Tuesday, only five municipalities have transmitted their election results — Narra, Magsaysay, Kalayaan, Culion and Dumaran.
He added that Puerto Princesa City was able to submit its results on Tuesday after the proclamation of the winning city officials.
Arlando also said that provincial posts such as governor, vice governor, board members and congressmen are the only ones affected by the delay while winning municipal candidates can already be declared.
“Malabo talaga ngayon na makapag-proclaim tayo sa provincial level kasi nagkaproblema. But ‘yong sa mga munisipyo ay pwede na sila magproclaim as long as nakapagtransmit na sila. Tayo naman kasi provincial candidates ang concern natin, wala na kaming problema kung magproclaim sila ngayon,” he said.
Election result transmission and canvassing will continue at the Provincial Capitol Legislative Building until all provincial candidates will be proclaimed, Arlando said.
