Cuyo council member takes oath as ex-officio board member

Cuyo Sangguniang Bayan Member Christopher Jake Tan has taken his oath as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan representing the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL).

Tan was elected president of the PCL Palawan Chapter, winning over two other candidates during their election on September 4.

As the new president, Tan said he will represent and serve not only the members of PCL but “for the greater good of the people of Palawan.”

Among his priority programs is the revival of the PCL Legislative Academy for councilors who want to earn a college or master’s degree to develop their skills, in partnership with the University of the East.

“In this regard, I bring good news – we shall once again open the PCL Legislative Academy, a platform that has proven its worth in strengthening the capacity of our local leaders,” he said in his privilege speech.

“Through this initiative, our councilors and local leaders will be equipped with knowledge and skills to craft policies that truly respond to the needs of their communities. This is but one of the many commitments I intend to fulfill as part of my promise to our members during the recent PCL elections,” he added.

He also expressed full commitment to the provincial government, pledging his support to members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan “in advancing legislations for the development of our province.”

“I also declare my solidarity with Governor Amy Alvarez whose leadership continues to inspire confidence and hope as well as with our three House reppresentatives whose voices amplify Palawan’s concerns in the national arena,” he stated.
