A container van detached from its trailer and landed across the national highway in Barangay San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City, yesterday afternoon, March 25, after its lock to the fifth wheel reportedly gave way.
According to the driver, Sonny Mabanag, the incident happened shortly past 3 p.m. in front of Delos Reyes Road. The container van suddenly disengaged from the trailer and fell onto the road, blocking a major lane.
Fortunately, no pedestrians or vehicles were hit when it fell.
As of 5:42 p.m., the container van and trailer truck remain in the middle of the road, causing heavy traffic along the National Highway in Barangays San Miguel and San Pedro, as well as on Wescom Road.
City Traffic Management Office (CTMO) personnel on-site managed the situation and designated alternate routes to help ease the congestion. (with a report from Dietroi Dimanalata and June Anne Lazaro)
