Four commercial fishing vessels were apprehended by operatives of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in violation of the fisheries law within the municipal waters of Araceli during the weekend.

The large fishing vessels were named in a report obtained by Palawan News from the Coast Guard Substation-Araceli as F/B Monalinda with 68 crew on board, and F/B Morning Glory-XIX, F/B Mayfair XXI and F/B Morning XXXVII with 43 combined crewmen.

The report said they were apprehended for violating Municipal Ordinance 139 and Republic Act 10654 which amended Republic Act 8550 or the Fisheries Law.

The operation was jointly conducted by the Coast Guard, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bantay Dagat.

The arrested crewmen and their fishing vessels were brought to the Araceli Wharf for the issuance of a Certificate of Orderly Inspection (COI).

On August 13, a release clearance was issued after the fishing corporation that owns them paid the P82,500 administrative fine to the treasurer’s office of Araceli.
