The body of a 16-year old male teen who was reported missing on October 10 was found by residents in the waters off Barangay Mangingisda, Sunday.

Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 2 commander P/Maj. Edgar Salazar identified the teen as “Ladin” who was originally from Bataraza.

Salazar said Ladin was last seen on the night of October 10 leaving Mangingisda on a banca to go to Mag-asawang Bato islet just a kilometer away with four of his friends for a drinking session.

The initial investigation claimed that after this, Ladin’s friends left the islet using a banca. The victim and another friend reportedly followed by swimming. However, Ladin disappeared in the water without any trace.

Salazar said it was also his friends who reported to him the incident.

On Sunday, Mangingisda resident Darel Estanislaw saw Ladin’s dead body along the shores of the barangay. When verified, his friends and relatives confirmed it was him.

“Nalunod ‘yon, kasi may mga kasamahan ‘yon na nag-report na rin noong una sa station pagtapos ng ilang araw lumutang din. Hindi na rin nag pa-autopsy ‘yong pamilya,” Salazar said.

Salazar said the refusal to conduct an autopsy on the body was in relation to their Islam tradition.
