The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) of Puerto Princesa has turned over six confiscated chainsaws to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) as part of efforts to protect the city’s forestlands and conservation areas.
The six chainsaws were confiscated from protected and conservation areas within Puerto Princesa, according to the city government.
The City ENRO, through its Protected Area Management Services Division, formally turned over the equipment to PCSDS for proper custody, documentation and disposition.
“The confiscation of equipment used in the commission of offenses is part of the mandate of the City ENRO in managing and protecting our forestlands and conservation areas from destruction,” the office said.
The City ENRO said it remains committed to protecting the city’s watersheds and critical habitats.
The turnover also forms part of interagency efforts to strengthen environmental enforcement and ensure that confiscated equipment is properly handled.
“This turnover to PCSDS is in line with inter-agency collaboration to ensure proper custody, documentation, and appropriate disposition of confiscated items, and to strengthen the protection of our environment for present and future generations,” the city government said.
