The Puerto Princesa City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO) has turned over three confiscated chainsaws to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS).
The chainsaws were confiscated from protected and conservation areas within Puerto Princesa after being used in violations penalized under Republic Act 9175, or the Chainsaw Act of 2002, Presidential Decree 705, or the Revised Forestry Code, and other forestry laws, rules and regulations.
The turnover was conducted by the City ENRO through its Protected Area Management Services Division.
“The confiscation of equipment used in the commission of environmental offenses forms part of the City ENRO’s continuing efforts to protect and manage the city’s forestlands, watersheds, and critical habitats,” the office said.
The City ENRO said the turnover to PCSDS would help ensure the proper custody, documentation and disposition of the confiscated equipment.
“The turnover to PCSDS highlights the importance of inter-agency coordination in ensuring the proper custody, documentation, and appropriate disposition of confiscated items,” it said.
The office said the coordination also strengthens efforts to protect Puerto Princesa’s natural resources for present and future generations.
