The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) of Puerto Princesa conducted a lecture on Palawan’s endemic wildlife for students of Sta. Monica High School on March 16, as part of their Special Science Class curriculum.
Facilitated by the office’s Wildlife Management Services Division, the session focused on animal species found only in Palawan and their role in maintaining ecological balance.
The discussion also introduced Republic Act 9147, or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001, which provides the legal framework for biodiversity protection and regulates the use of wildlife resources.
City ENRO said the activity aimed to connect environmental science with conservation laws, encouraging students to take an active role in protecting Palawan’s natural heritage.
