The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) Puerto Princesa took the lead in advancing circular economy initiatives during a two-day workshop conducted by the City Government of Puerto Princesa in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme.
Held on March 17 to 18, the workshop gathered members of the Local Circular Economy Action Team (LCEAT) to conduct a Value Chain Analysis and identify business opportunities for plastics and organic waste, with the City ENRO playing a central role in steering discussions and aligning outcomes with local environmental priorities.
The activity aimed to develop an integrated approach covering value chain development, business planning, gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) mainstreaming, as well as investment strategies. It also identified priority areas for local-level investments and enterprise development to guide future interventions.
The initiative is part of the EU-PH Green Economy Partnership, funded by the European Union under its Global Gateway initiative and led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Co-led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government and implemented by UNDP, the program’s “Green LGUs” component empowers local governments to drive inclusive circular economy transitions.
