Three suspected drug pushers were arrested recently in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sta. Monica by a joint team of anti-illegal drug operatives and personnel of the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 2.

Arrested were Jem Bulacan, 52, a resident of Brgy. Princesa; Maritess Ignacio, 52, a resident of Brgy. Maunlad, and Reynaldo Bonoan, 65, a resident of Brgy. Maligaya.

They were arrested on May 27 by joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 2 and the Anti-Crime Task Force (ACTF) of the city government along the national highway in Purok Magalang, Brgy. Sta. Monica.

A spot report released by the PPCPO Station 2 said an asset and a police operative were able to buy from the suspects one transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

Recovered from them were two units of mobile phones, marked money amounting to P1,600 and one piece unsealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance.

The suspects and confiscated items were brought to the City Crime Laboratory for examination.

PPCPO Station 2 officer-in-charge PLt. Mark Anthony Maceda said the drugs being sold in his jurisdiction comes from outside the city.

“Hndi pa naman [malala ‘yong drugs sa Puerto] at saka ‘yong drugs dito pichi-pichi lang ba, pakunti-kunti lang ba, hindi pa siya talaga big time o ‘yong pang-malakasan,” Maceda said. (with reports from Jayra Joyce Taboada)
