A church leader and a former candidate for city councilor was arrested by the police on Saturday evening, August 31, for sexual harassment.
Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 1 commander P/Maj. Lorence Battaler identified the suspect as Fortunato “Bobot” Almasco, Jr., 61, a resident of Valencia Street in Barangay Masipag.
Almasco was served a warrant issued by Judge Joeven Dellosa of Branch 47 of the National Capital Judicial Region, Metropolitan Trial Court, Pasay City on July 16.
The police report did not provide details regarding the complaint filed by the victim against Almasco.
Bataller said the warrant for “acts of lasciviousness” against Almasco was forwarded to them from Pasay City. They served it to him at his home along Valencia Street.
“Sa Pasay nangyari ‘yong incident, doon nag-file ‘yong complainant. ‘Yong warrant naman ay ipinadala sa atin at tayo lang ang nag-serve ng warrant sa suspect,” he said.
He said Almasco remains under their custody as he is still coming up with P36,000 to pay bail.
