Christian and Muslim groups from different sectors joined hands in a unity walk recently in Bataraza as part of efforts to ensure safety and security against terrorism.
The unity walk was spearheaded on February 20 by Bataraza Municipal Police Station (MPS) chief Insp. Raul Regala who said the “overwhelming” support of the residents despite their differences in religious beliefs will keep peace and order in the municipality.
He said the unity walk means religious groups in Bataraza can come together for a common cause, driven by the desire to make sure that nothing comes between them and their peace and security.
The theme of the walk was “Lakad Tungo sa Kapayapaan Iwaksi ang Karahasan”.
White doves were also released by the participants as a symbol of peace.
