Hundreds of Catholic devotees in the city and province welcomed Friday morning Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Gabrielle Giordano Caccia to preside over the Holy Mass for the 6th Bugsayan on November 30 at Puerto Princesa City Coliseum.
Archbishop Caccia’s arrival was welcomed by students and a group of devotees waving their Vatican flags along Rizal Avenue.
He offered incense in front of the statue of the Immaculate Conception at the altar of the church and proceeded to the blessing of the statue of St. Ezekiel Moreno.
His current visit to the country will be his last time as the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines since September 2017.
According to Vatican News, Pope Francis has recently appointed Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia as the new Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations.
Archbishop Caccia also stated he loved his time in the Philippines since he started to be the ecclesiastical diplomat.
“I have really loved my time in the Philippines and will miss this beautiful country and its faithful people, to whom I express my deepest gratitude,” he said.
Based on his schedule, Archbishop Caccia had his courtesy call to Mayor Lucilo Bayron at the City Hall on Friday afternoon.
