The Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa (AVPP) announced that it will hold masses and worship services via Facebook live-streaming from April 5-12 to commemorate the Holy Week and offer hope to the public amidst the challenges of COVID-19.
In a recent post, the AVPP said the live-streaming policy was set due to the COVID-19 situation. All public celebrations and gatherings during the week will be done in private spaces.
Those who wish to join the celebration will have to do it in the confines of their homes through the AVPP-Ugnayan social media account.
The schedule of masses for live-streaming from Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish (ICCP) will start on April 5, Palm Sunday, from 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Online masses will be scheduled at 8 a.m. on April 6 to 8 in celebration of Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday. The Last Supper mass on Maundy Thursday will be scheduled at 5 p.m. while the Seven Last Words and the Liturgy on Good Friday will be scheduled at 12 noon and 4:30 p.m.
On Black Saturday, April 11, the Easter Vigil mass will go online at 8 p.m. and Eastern Sunday masses on April 12 will be scheduled at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
“Sa inyong pagsubaybay sa mga pagdiriwang, panatilihin na solemn ang paligid. Maaaring maglagay ng kandila sa tabi ng screen, gayundin ng krus at bibliya. Ito ay ang magsisilbing munting altar sa inyong tahanan,” the AVPP statement said.
“Sa mga misa sa Linggo ng Palaspas, kung kayo ay merong palaspas sa inyong tahanan, itataas at iwagayway niyo lamang sa harap ng inyong screen sa sandali ng pagbabasbas ng pari,” it added.
The AVPP stated that on Last Supper mass on Maundy Thursday, there will be a vigil on the Blessed Sacrament from the end of the Liturgy until 9 p.m.
The vigil will go online through live-streaming and devotees may play mellow church songs at their houses.
During the Seven Last Words mass on Good Friday, devotees are advised to dedicate a space for a bible with flower and candle.
During the Liturgy in honoring the holy cross, devotees are advised to put a crucifix in front with candles and flowers.
“Sa sandali ng pagpaparangal ang Krus, ang isang kasapi ng mag-anak ay magtatanghal ng krus habang yumuyuko sa pagpupugay ang iba,” the AVPP statement said.
“Sa Vigilia Pascual, maghanda ng mga kandila para sa pakikiisa sa pagbabasbas ng bagong apoy. Ilagay din ang mga ito sa inyong munting altar. Bawat isa ay merong sinding kandila para sa pagsasariwa ng mga pangako sa binyag,” it added.
