The head of the Bureau of Corrections conducted an on-site inspection of ongoing projects at the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm on March 17, as part of efforts to ensure facility upgrades and reformation programs are being carried out as planned.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. personally toured different areas of the penal farm to assess the progress of development projects on the ground.
He was accompanied by IPPF Superintendent Edgardo F. Mendoza Jr., who provided updates on the status of the projects and outlined their expected impact on both the institution and its surrounding community.
“The ocular visit focused on ensuring that development efforts inside the facility are moving forward as planned,” the bureau said in a statement.
“C/Supt. Mendoza Jr. provided updates on the projects and explained how these developments are expected to benefit both the institution and its community,” it added.
BuCor said the inspection reflects a hands-on approach by its leadership in monitoring regional facilities, with the aim of making sure that improvements and reform initiatives for persons deprived of liberty are implemented effectively.
