BROOKE’S POINT, Palawan — The municipal government began on Saturday its distribution of fuel subsidy to registered tricycle drivers who have been allowed to operate with restrictions to maintain physical distancing.

A recently approved local ordinance granted tricycle drivers 15 liters of gasoline as subsidy during the general community quarantine period until May 15.

Only tricycles with franchise and mayors’ permits, however, are qualified to receive the fuel subsidy.

Mayor Mary Jean D. Feliciano said the fuel subsidy was intended to help the drivers since they are only allowed to carry one passenger at a time in observance of physical distancing.

“Gusto natin ibalik sa mga lehitimong trike drivers yong naiaambag nila sa local income ng munisipyo ngayong panahon na sila naman ang nangangailangan ng tulong,” Feliciano said.
