The victim, identified only as alias Ronel, 50, temporarily residing in the area, allegedly approached the suspect while he was eating fresh coconut meat and asked to get his bolo, triggering a heated argument.

“Initial investigation revealed that while the suspect was eating buko meat, he was confronted by the victim, who asked for his bolo. Thereafter, a heated argument ensued between them, and without justifiable reason, the suspect successively hacked the victim, resulting in his untimely death,” the police office said.

After the incident, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Barangay Tumarbong.

Police recovered from the crime scene the bolo used in the attack, measuring about 23 inches long including the handle, and one wooden scabbard.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Roxas Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges.
