BDO Capital & Investment Corporation President Eduardo F. Francisco, speaking at the 19th Philippine Summit hosted by The Asset, described how targeted investments in infrastructure, especially in energy, could drive economic growth in the Philippines.
Francisco noted in a statement the strong interest from foreign investors, particularly in large-scale energy projects.
“Many foreign investors, like the French, some Canadians, the Japanese, and the Chinese, are coming here in the Philippines as engineers or as consultants,” he said, emphasizing global interest in the country’s development.
Offshore wind projects have gained attention too, according to Francisco.
“We are talking to a lot of these groups for offshore wind. These are huge projects. It is fascinating,” he added.
He said the government’s actions to streamline regulatory processes and open the energy sector have set up a favorable climate for large-scale investments.
Francisco pointed to recent government policy changes, which he sees as instrumental in attracting foreign investment.
Reforms to the Public Service Act and Renewable Energy Act have allowed more foreign participation in sectors like energy, telecommunications, and transportation.
“These reforms are making it easier for foreign companies to come in and invest in critical areas, such as renewable energy. The government is taking steps in the right direction,” Francisco said.
These reforms support national goals of enhancing infrastructure and ensuring energy security. By tapping into the Philippines’ renewable energy potential with foreign investments, Francisco sees a path to meet future energy needs and strengthen the economy.
Francisco’s remarks at the summit reflect increased interest in the Philippine market, with infrastructure — particularly renewable energy — serving as a key element for growth. BDO Capital continues to build partnerships and secure funding for these projects, aiming to instill investor confidence in the Philippine economy.
With foreign investors increasingly involved, Francisco’s observations point to a rising trend: a growing investment environment where global firms contribute to and benefit from the country’s economic progress.
