Mayor Lucilo Bayron has ordered the summary dismissal of two city traffic enforcers who reportedly demanded a P2,000 bribe from a traffic violator on Wednesday.
The issue arose after a video clip came out on Facebook showing the traffic violators handing the bribe money to the enforcers.
Richard Ligad, head of the city’s Anti-Crime-Task Force (ACTF), had posted a separate video of himself asking City Traffic Management Office (CTMO) chief Jonathan Magay in a phone conversation to dismiss the two enforcers.
Magay apparently wanted to first investigate if the video of the reported bribery was a set-up against the enforcers.
“Kahit na raw na na-set-up the mere fact na tumanggap siya sibakin mo na raw ‘yon, kasi madadale raw mga enforcer natin,” Ligad was heard as saying.
The two traffic enforcers involved have remained unidentified.
The cellphone video had shown them receiving P2,000 as bribe from a truck worker and driver for a traffic violation.
