Sixty-three volunteers from two chapters of the Palawan Disaster Risk Reduction Auxiliary Inc. (PDRRAI) in Bataraza underwent Basic Life Support (BLS) Training conducted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
According to the PDRRMO, the activity aimed to equip community volunteers with essential life-saving skills.
The BLS training was held in two batches, with 33 volunteers from Barangay Sumbiling participating on October 15–16, and 30 volunteers from Barangay Rio Tuba on October 17–18.
During the training, participants learned vital techniques in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), management of choking incidents, and other emergency response procedures.
In addition, the Provincial Government turned over Search and Rescue (SAR) equipment to the participating barangays, including rescue helmets, life rings, life jackets, throw bags, flashlights, rubber boots, and megaphones.
The PDRRMO said these initiatives are part of the provincial government’s continuous efforts to ensure that communities are capable and well-equipped in times of disaster.
