A blood bank station has been launched by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Palawan Chapter and the Bataraza District Hospital (BDH) to expand medical services in the municipality.
Agnes Tabinga, head of office of the PRC Palawan Chapter, said the launch of the blood bank station is in line with the recent upgrading of BDH to a Level 1 hospital from its previous status as an infirmary.
She said that as a Level 1 hospital, BDH is now allowed to offer blood transfusion services through the newly established blood bank station.

The launch was held on July 17 and was attended by former Puerto Princesa City vice mayor Maria Nancy Socrates, who also serves as chairman of the board of directors of PRC Palawan Chapter.
Mayor Al Shariff Ibba said the project is a major step in improving the town’s response to medical needs, especially for patients in urgent need of blood transfusion.
