The United States Marine Corps deployed its Navy-Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System for Maritime Key Terrain Security Operations in Northern Luzon on Saturday, April 26, as part of the ongoing Exercise Balikatan 40-2025 between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. Armed Forces.
The Navy-Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS) deployment is part of the activity aimed at testing the ability to position the system for Maritime Key Terrain Security Operations (MKTSO).
A land-based missile system designed to target and deter hostile naval forces, NMESIS strengthens the defensive posture of both the Philippines and the United States in securing key maritime areas as the joint forces enhance maritime domain awareness.
The NMESIS provides the combined and joint force with a flexible and expedient sea denial capability, contributing to the collective defense of both countries.

Meanwhile, personnel from the 960th Air and Missile Defense Group of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), together with the USMC’s 3rd Littoral Anti-Air Battalion and the U.S. Army’s 35th Air Defense Artillery, conducted an Air Defense Synergy High-Level Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) at the Naval Education, Training, and Doctrine Command (NETDC) in San Antonio, Zambales.
The exchange focused on the potential integration of the U.S. Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS) and Avenger systems with the PAF’s SPYDER system to enhance joint air and missile defense capabilities, supporting stronger interoperability.
