An official of the Center for Federalism and Constitutional Reform (CFCR) believes that the Balik Probinsya Program recently institutionalized by President Rodrigo Duterte through an executive order will be advantageous to Palawan.
Armando Golifardo Jr. of CFCR said he expects the program to attract investors in Palawan because of its long term potentials particularly in tourism.
He said that tourism growth will bring about job opportunities that will draw Palawenos working in the metropolitan centers back to the province.
The Balik-Probinsya program was proposed by Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go with a long-term aim of decongesting Metro Manila and promoting regional developments.
Golifardo said that about 80 percent of the current population of Metro Manila is composed of those coming from provinces.
Balik-Probinsya is part of the four main pillars of the Center for Federalism and Constitutional Reform which are
Pagyamanin ang Probinsya, Paluwagin ang Metro Manila; Gobyerno Para sa Tao, Hindi Para Sa Trapo; Bukas na Ekonomiya nang Lahat ay May Pag-asa; Bagong Konstitusyon para sa Bagong Henerasyon.
