Bail set for 2 held in Roxas forestry case

Two men wanted for alleged violations of forestry and wildlife-related laws were arrested in Roxas, northern Palawan, as police continued operations targeting suspects accused of environmental offenses in the province.

The Palawan Police Provincial Office (PalPPO), headed by Col. Joel D. Casupanan, said the two suspects, aged 39 and 33, were arrested on May 20 in Barangay 4 by personnel of the Roxas Municipal Police Station with support from provincial intelligence units.

Police said the operation was carried out through warrants issued on May 14, 2026 by Judge Anna Leah Y. Tiongson-Mendoza of the Regional Trial Court Branch 164 in Roxas, Palawan.

The suspects are facing charges for alleged violation of Section 77 of Presidential Decree 705, or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines, and Republic Act No. 9175, which regulates the ownership and use of chain saws.
