Philippine folk singer Lolita Carbon and the Asin band will hold a benefit concert on December 19 for the Palawan Cancer Support Group (PCSG).

Dr. Joseph Tovera, the medical doctor and co-founder of the group, said he was inspired to create the group to help cancer patients.

“I really wanted to come up with a group that will address the other aspect of patients suffering from cancer,” he said.

“Very appropriate with the ASIN because parang it’s one of the groups that have survived for years. I think it’s very inspiring for every cancer patient,” Tovera added.

Rebecca Arquero, head of PCSG and a breast cancer survivor, said that the group is already celebrating its four years and stated that the proceeds from the benefit cause activities are all going to different patients and not for a self-serving purpose.

“Since we established this Palawan Cancer Support Group, all benefits went to different patients who are not only breast cancer patients. We are lacking funds. It is more spiritual, socialization with cancer patients,” she said.

Arquero said that as a cancer patient herself, she knows the importance of spiritual and social support.

“Kasi alam niyo, kapag may sakit ka na cancer, kapag wala talagang mang-aliw-aliw sa iyo or booster, mag-encourage– yung lahat ng mga nararamdaman mo, mas madali ka mamatay. But if meron ka mga grupo, iba-ibang tao na nakakaintindi sa sakit mo, at sa pag-intindi nila nito ay matulungan ka,” she said.

The benefit concert will be held at the Skylight Convention. Ticket prices range from P300 to P500. The concert will be joined by the Perk Music Group and will be produced by White Flare Production.
