A multi-sectoral initiative called “Arangkada Busuanga” was launched in Busuanga town in Calamianes to position it as a tourist destination in the Philippines.
It was launch on September 22 in a gathering at the Busuanga Gymnasium by various sectors such as the local government unit, private entities, agricultural groups, and indigenous communities.
Raymond “RC” Cruz, the elected chairman of Arangkada Busuanga, said the initiative represents a vision for the development of Busuanga, aiming to complement the established tourist spots of Puerto Princesa, El Nido, and Coron.
He emphasized the movement’s mission to highlight lesser-known destinations within the town, including Black Island, North & South Cay Islands, and Calauit Safari.

“Arangkada Busuanga is about ensuring that our town becomes a recognized name in tourism circles nationwide, promoting the natural beauty and untapped potential of Busuanga,” said Cruz.
“Through this campaign, we aim to attract investments that will not only boost the tourism industry but also improve our community’s access to services such as healthcare, training, and infrastructure,” he added.
For the first time, the launch brought together representatives from all 14 inter-island barangays of Busuanga.
The event featured an Oath-Taking Ceremony, where multi-sectoral representatives pledged their commitment to the movement’s vision, vowing to participate in future campaigns and activities to promote Busuanga’s offerings.
Busuanga Mayor Elizabeth Cervante, who also serves as the vice chairman of Arangkada Busuanga, delivered a message during the launch, encouraging residents to support the initiative.
“This is our chance to create a vision for Busuanga, one that respects our heritage and uplifts all sectors,” she stated, urging the community to come together for the town’s advancement.
Arangkada Busuanga aims not only to push the town’s tourism forward but also to focus on environmental protection, addressing issues such as power supply, and enhancing livelihoods across different sectors.
The movement seeks to showcase Busuanga’s culture and natural beauty by promoting new experiences for visitors, according to Cruz.
