The Department of Education (DepEd) announced Monday it is receiving applications for its Senior High School Voucher Program (SHSVP) for the upcoming school year.
Open to Grade 10 graduates proceeding to senior high, the SHSVP is a program that provides financial subsidies to qualified learners in the form of vouchers.
DepEd Order No. 16, series of 2020, provides guidelines on the program including details about the requirements, procedure, and schedule for voucher application, from qualification to redemption, as well as other information relative to SHS VP application.
In an interview with Palawan News on Wednesday, Gina Francisco said that the program is for Grade 10 completers who wish to continue studying in private school for the senior high school.
“Para ito sa mga Grade 10 completers na papasok sila ng Grade 11. Yong program na ito ay financial assistance siya ni DepEd, doon sa mga qualified senior high school learners na papasok sa mga private senior high school ito ýong voucher programs,” she said.
She also encouraged interested and qualified learners to apply for the voucher program to submit their application on the scheduled date.
“To all Grade 10 completers ng public schools, na gustong mag-enroll sa private schools still meron pa rin tayong voucher program. Kung gusto nilang i-avail at sila naman ay qualified puwede silang mag-apply ang deadline ng creation of account sa voucher program ay July 22 and ang deadline ng submission of application ay July 24. Isang paraan rin ito para matulungan din natin ang ating mga private senior high schools,”
Here are the following requirements:
- Recent 2×2 colored photo ID
- Proof of parent or guardian’s financial means
- Signed Parent Consent Form for voucher applicants 18 years old (bit.ly/SHSVP2020annex1)
- Financial Assistance Certificate from JHS, if applicable (bit.ly/SHSVP2020annex2)
Only Grade 10 completers in SY 2019-2020 will only be automatically qualified and considered for the SHSVP.
They do not need to apply for the following vouchers:
- All Grade 10 completers in public schools operated by DepEd
- All Grade 10 completers in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs)
- All Grade 10 completers in Education Service Contracting (ESC) guarantees from private schools
The voucher application period has been in effect since June 29, and the deadline will be on July 24, 2020. August 14, is the posting application results on Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP) and the start of voucher redemption. Documents can be submitted until October 30, 2020.
According to DepEd, students who graduated from High School in 2015 or earlier are not eligible for the SHSVP. Incoming Grade 12 students who are not part of the SHSVP of Grade 11 and non-Filipino students are also ineligible.
The application for the SHSVP can be submitted through the Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP) at http://ovap.peac.org.ph.
