The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has reported the continued dominance of the amihan or northeast monsoon in extreme Northern Luzon.
The weather phenomenon is expected to intensify over the next two to three days, impacting the shoreline of Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central Luzon.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast in Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Palawan. Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant for possible flooding and landslides due to persistent rainfall.
“Kaya paalala sa mga kababayan natin sa mga nabanggit na lugar, patuloy pa rin tayong mag-ingat dahil sa mga pag-ulan na posibleng magdulot ng pagbaha o pagguho ng lupa,” he said.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon, including the Visayas and Mindanao, is expected to experience generally fair weather, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also confirmed that no low-pressure area or typhoon is currently being monitored in the Philippine Area of Responsibility or the Pacific Ocean.
However, fishermen and small sea vessels are advised to exercise caution, particularly in the coastal waters of Northern Luzon.
