A resolution requesting Rep. Cyrille Abueg-Zaldivar (2nd District, Palawan) to donate one ambulance unit with complete life-saving devices to Barangay Princess Urduja in Narra was recently approved at the Provincial Board.
Authored by Board Member Ryan D. Maminta, the resolution is aimed at providing further medical assistance to the constituents in the area, who reside far from the provincial or municipal medical institutions.
“The operational and available ambulances in the Municipality of Narra are not sufficient to accommodate the need or serve the medical demand of distant barangays, such as the barangay in question, and thus, lacks the furtherance of quality public service,” said Maminta.
The resolution is anchored to Section 15, Article 2 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, which states that the “State shall protect and promote the right to health of the people and instill health consciousness among them.”
In his draft, Maminta also indicated that this written motion is in line with the “Universal Health Care Act” or the Republic Act (RA) No. 11223.
Maminta also noted that the request covers not only the constituents of Princess Urduja but also for its neighboring barangays.
