More than 1,148 residents from the town of Narra received ₱5,000 in assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) during the distribution event held on August 19-21.
The distribution was part of the government’s Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), which aims to assist Filipinos in the low-income bracket who are struggling due to the continuous rise in the cost of living in the country.
This initiative was carried out in collaboration with 2nd Palawan District Rep. Jose Alvarez and the DSWD office.
Under AKAP, the DSWD aims to provide appropriate assistance to minimum wage earners, the poor, those near the poverty line, and those in the informal economy, who are often the first to be affected by the fluctuating economic situation, according to Rep. Alvarez’s office.
Through this program, the government aims to protect the daily livelihood of beneficiaries, especially during times of economic hardship.
According to Alvarez, his office will continue to strive to implement AKAP in the 2nd Palawan District. He also expects ongoing coordination with the DSWD to ensure that more citizens can benefit from the program.
