The Armed Forces of the Philippines concluded its unilateral joint exercise between its major branches of service, with AFP leadership observing improved interoperability and response strategies among its operational units in multi-domain combat scenarios.
The 8th iteration of the AFP Joint Exercise Dagat, Langit, Lupa (AJEX Dagit-Pa), conducted in the joint operational areas of the Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom), Western Command (Wescom), and the AFP Special Operations Command (AFPSOCOM), highlighted the combined capabilities of the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine Navy to operate together in addressing complex security challenges.
Activities during the two-week drills included the Staff Exercise (STAFFEX), Command Post Exercise (CPX), Information Warfighter Exercise (IWX), Cyber Defense Exercise (CYDEX), and Field Training Exercise (FTX).
The exercise also focused on external defense operations for the first time, conducting drills in the West Philippine Sea that featured simulations of island seizure, amphibious assault, and counter-landing operations designed to enhance the AFP’s ability to conduct joint operations across air, sea, and land domains.
During the closing ceremony at the AFP General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura expressed pride and confidence in the AFP’s capabilities in external defense operations, emphasizing its commitment to further enhancing its operational readiness.
“The successful conclusion of AJEX ‘DAGIT-PA’ reinforces the AFP’s resolve to be agile and responsive in addressing the complex security challenges of the modern age. It is a testament to the AFP’s commitment to ensuring the defense and security of our nation and promoting regional peace and stability,” Cordura said.
