After election defeat, Clink Hagedorn calls on Palaweños to unite

Elroy John “Clink” Hagedorn, son of the late mayor and congressman Edward Hagedorn, has again called on the people of Palawan and Puerto Princesa City to forget the misunderstandings and division caused by the recently held May 12 national and local elections and instead focus on uniting for the development and progress of the province and the city.

Hagedorn ran for representative of the province’s 3rd congressional district, a race won by Congressman-elect Gil Acosta Jr.

In a post on his Facebook page, Hagedorn reiterated that he wholeheartedly accepts the results of the elections.

“Kalimutan na po natin ang mga hindi pagkakaunawaan at pagkakawatak-watak.
Ito rin po ang naging paalala sa atin ni Cong. Edward Hagedorn na #MagkaisaParaSaKaunlaran,” Hagedorn said.

“Kasama po ang aking buong pamilya, we want to encourage you all—let’s join hands at magkaisa po tayo para sa ating minamahal na Palawan,” he added.

He also said that after witnessing the uncertainties of politics for over three decades, he has come to see how it differs from sports and other competitions he has been involved in, where he also learned how to accept defeat gracefully.

“The only difference is that my mom and dad, from an early age, trained and taught me how to accept them and to smile while embracing the results. Whenever victory shows, to be as humble as can be,” he explained.

He emphasized that he is “not affected at maluwag sa puso naming buong pamilya ang pagtanggap sa resulta ng halalan.”

Hagedorn likewise expressed his gratitude to the residents of the city who showed unwavering support for his family.
