The municipality of Aborlan in Palawan moved forward with the ENRIS Project as the Korean Overseas International Cooperation Agency conducted a site assessment for the installation of proposed climate and water monitoring stations.
The activity covered four priority locations for climate monitoring stations: AWSMOU Plant, Barangay Cabigaan, Barake Elementary School and Magbabadil Elementary School. For water monitoring stations, the team evaluated Iraan Bridge and Tagpait Bridge.
The inspection formed part of preparatory steps to establish monitoring systems designed to strengthen environmental data collection and disaster risk reduction efforts in Aborlan.
After the field visits, the KOICA Project Management Consultant team held a briefing at the GAD Building within the Municipal Grounds to outline project activities and timelines. This was followed by a dialogue with local officials led by Mayor Hon. Lito O. Tito, with Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Reyna Michelle Ruhen, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Godofredo Ferriol Jr., and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Jonathan Daniel C. Pizana in attendance.
Once completed, the monitoring stations are expected to support Aborlan’s climate tracking and water level monitoring initiatives, strengthening the municipality’s preparedness against natural hazards.
