The municipal government of El Nido recently inaugurated a P3.5 million fish port project to make it easier for local fishermen to transfer their catch.
The newly-built fish port in the seaside village of Corong-Corong, according to town mayor Edna Gacot-Lim, will be useful in fish shipment and visitor arrivals.
“Malaking tulong at benepisyo ang maidudulot nito para sa pag-dispatch at arrival ng mga turista,” read the statement issued on the municipal government’s Facebook page.
The 69-meter port would also serve as an access point for fishing products to the El Nido Public Market.
Present in the inauguration and ceremonial blessing were Lim, DILG Provincial Director Virgilio L. Tagle, MLGOO Gil P. Padul, Corong-Corong village chief Ryan Abela, and other members of the municipal council.
The fund for the project was drawn from the DILG-Performance Challenge Fund and the barangay.
