The City government and the Department of Education (DepEd) have issued separate declarations cancelling classes in all levels from March 14 to 21.
Gina Francisco, Division Information Officer of the Schools Division of Puerto Princesa, said that during the class suspension, the teachers are required to work from home.
“Yong mga teachers po namin, syempre wala po silang tuturuan, work from home lang muna sila. Sa bahay lang nila gagawin ‘yong mga paper works nila,” she said.
She pointed out that the suspension of classes will not affect graduating students because they have already finished their exams.
“Nakapag-exam na rin po ang mga graduating at magmo-moving up ang hindi na lang nakapag-exam ay ‘yong undergraduates, grades 1-5, 7-9, 11 pero ngayong week tinatapos na rin ang mga competencies so, most probably tapos na ‘yon kasi ang schedule ng final exam namin ay next week, pero dahil nga naglabas na si Mayor ng suspension, hindi na matutuloy, baka pag balik na lang after March 21 ang exam nila,” she said.
She also added that the schedule of the graduation rites were also moved between April 13-17 as per the order of DepEd Central Office.
