SAN VICENTE, Palawan – This municipality is developing a 1-hectare farm tourism project designed to enhance its tourism potential.
Dubbed “Pamana Agri-Tourism Project”, the Municipal Tourism Office (MTO) and Gender and Development (GAD-MSWD) have allocated approximately P1.5 million for the project.
The farm is intended to produce organic fruits, vegetables, and the integration of livestock and poultry.
“This project helps a lot on the community livelihood and employment opportunities, enhancing production engagement, nutritional requirements, the introduction of inclusive farming system, technology innovation, production of inputs understanding, different farming system, and interaction to the environment, especially on land cultivation,” municipal agriculture officer Rufino Clavecilla said.
Clavecilla believes that the project is essential to the attainment of the sustainable tourism industry in the municipality.
“It is a catalyst for development of potential tourism sites, waste management, immersion experience on farm marketing and training, research and technology verification on foods essential for the health,” he added.
Ina Louise Abello of the tourism office said the project is a potential tourism attraction.
“It can become a potential tourism attraction, just like Yamang Bukid or Strawberry Farm. It could also be a source of supply for agricultural products at gulay sa market,” Abello said.
